People ask me all the time, what is the best plus size activewear?
The answer is… there is no solid answer. The best plus size activewear is the activewear you actually WEAR and feel great in. Different bodies are going to feel comfortable in different styles. Also, different styles work for different activities and, of course, people have different price points. It’s my goal to show you what your choices are and give you honest feedback that you can apply for your own life!
Continuing my review of plus size activewear… next up is Torrid! I have a special place in my heart for Torrid; I’ve visited their offices and worked with their team before and I genuinely believe that the folks there are interested in serving plus size women through fashion. I also am a huge fan of their denim! I’ve been wearing Torrid plus size activewear for the last eight or nine months and have found their pieces to be well-made, comfortable and durable.
Torrid is one of my legit go-to’s for activewear. Sometimes plus fashion brands that “do” activewear in the mix just don’t get it. Torrid does.
I do a pretty thorough review of all the styles I tried this go-around, but I do want to highlight this stuff in specific.
First, here is a close up of the difference bewteen the biker shorts and the bermuda shorts.
Check out the difference in length here. On the left are the Biker shorts and the Bermuda are on the right. If you are taller, you might prefer the Bermuda. For me? Team bike shorts all the way!
Also, this workout outfit might be one of my most favorite I’ve ever worn…
In love with everything about this outfit. Wearing the bike shorts, a tank and that hoodie!
Lastly, I don’t touch on this in the video, but for the last year I have been wearing the heck out of Torrid tee’s. Their cotton blend tee’s are my favorite for working out. I’m a big fan of the black tee’s that have phrases on them.

SIX STORY GARAGE IN ONE MINUTE FLAT! Broke a personal record last night by hauling this 298 lb body up a while bunch of steps in one minute. The last time we did it my best time was one minute six seconds. The first time I did these stairs I petered out around the second story. Last night on started to go right at the top. This is a badass non scale victory. ???? Also it was slightly insane to do this one day after the Culver City Stairs. That isn't lost on me. Bwahaha. I'll share the full video on Facebook shortly so you can see me sucking wind during my recovery. It's really important to show this but I only got one minute here!! With @blakelosangeles providing theme song, guidance and motivation as always. #BeGreater #plussizefitness #workout #gymtime #stairs #workoutwednesday #fitness #fitfam #personaltraining #gettinghealthy

Progress looks like lots of different things! A few weeks ago I showed my first plank ever. Done on my elbows. Then I showed you how @blakelosangeles and I are working me towards doing a full pushup. Here we are, continuing to use bodyweight to its advantage, working on mobility and strength etc. Things like this make me feel REALLY excited!! #greaterat40 #weighlossjourney #workout #plussizefitness #exercise #plussizefit
And this. So, basically, I wear the heck out of these tees!
Part 2 of 2: This. Was. No. Joke. @blakelosangeles decides I need to do the Santa Monica Stairs for a second time… Wearing a weighted backpack with the 32 lbs I've lost so far. [Check out the full video link in bio!!] I can't tell you how this felt. I was so scared. But when I set my mind to do it, I did it. Slowly. Very slowly. Steady. One step at a time. I remembered VERY fast how it felt to be able to only walk a few stars without stopping. My body get so heavy. Pushing into the ground. Listen to me. I refuse to chase numbers on a scale. But what I WILL chase (proudly!) is pushing myself to do things physically I didn't think I can do. I can't explain to you how good it feels to be pushed and to be successful. It's hard. But so worth it. There's a moment in this video where @blakelosangeles starts to tear up. I'm sweaty and that backpack is heavy as hell and I'm pausing. I say, "this shit isn't pretty" and he says "it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen…" Grateful to you @blakelosangeles for all you are helping me do. For your support and kindness. For the opportunity to learn FROM you and also to be able to teach YOU things. Glad we can expand each other's world. Glad to be totally safe with you guiding me. Guys. If you have time. Pleae, please check out this whole video on YouTube. I don't care how much you weigh. Or where you are in life. Or how old you. Each one of us can #BeGreater and improve in the ways thay matter to us personally. You can do it. I promise. #greaterat40 #fitness #fitfam #fitspo #plussizefit #plussizefitness #weighlosstransformation #weightlossjourney #workout #santamonicastairs #weightloss #gettinghealthy #workingout

Who Is This Workout Gear Great For: Someone who is ready to sweat and to do it in style! I would definitely say Torrid Activewear is more trend-conscious and contemporary. They use neon colors and have added details and touches.
Favorite Style Not to Miss: I’m going to cheat and give you a few here. All of the items listed are ones I would 100% pay full price for without any discount and without any hesitation.
- The Criss Cross Strapped Leggings are amazing. I have worn these in two different sizes and I will keep wearing them as I size down as needed. It’s the fabric that makes these cropped leggings special- they are the single thickest pair of leggings I have come across for this price point!! This means they last through tons of wear and won’t fade at the butt like many leggings do — no see through booty here!
- The comfortable and super wear-friendly net hoodie. This piece is a must-have and I anticipate wearing it for many months ahead! It comes in black and coral.
- The underwire sports bra is a great buy for someone who is looking for a traditional-style sports bra. It holds up well for heavy activity and is comfortable to wear.
- Ribbed Yoga pants are 100% an item not to miss!
